Book Week is a time to ignite the imagination and commemorate the magic of storytelling. At Bring Me Magic, we specialise in transforming these celebrations into remarkable experiences. With over 3,000 performances at schools, childcare centres, and libraries across South Australia, our star performer, Michael Wilkop—affectionately known as Mickster the Trickster—brings stories to life with his unique blend of magic, humour, and education.
We also offer other interactive productions suitable for preschoolers to Year 3, which tie in within the annual Book Week theme. For example, the 2025 theme is, ‘Book an Adventure’. We have twooo new shows based on this theme including, Misty’s Magical Book of Adventure and The Secret Door; a choose-your-own-adventure stage performance where the kids make decisions to control the show.
For the older kids (years 4-6), we offer a thrilling, hands-on literary adventure with our Book Week interactive workshop! This immersive session invites children to step into their favourite stories and brings the 2025 CBCA Book of the Year shortlisted titles to life in an exciting, creative way. Through hands-on activities, students will break down storylines, create their own characters, and take part in creative writing and reading challenges.
Why Choose Bring Me Magic for Your Book Week Celebration?
At Bring Me Magic, we know the secret to engaging young audiences: blend learning with laughter and a touch of wonder. Our Book Week performances are carefully crafted to:
Encourage a Love for Reading: By integrating magical storytelling, Mickster and our performers inspire children to explore the endless adventures hidden in books.
Foster Active Listening: Through interactive tricks and tales, children learn the value of listening carefully—a skill essential both in and outside the classroom.
Introduce Performing Arts: Book Week becomes a platform to inspire budding performers, offering a taste of creativity and stage presence.
Educational: Our Adelaide proud Book Week shows include valuable lessons and themes. We support Inquiry Learning and we set aside structured question time with the kids after each performance. We also include a teacher resource pack with activities and worksheets for post-show discussion and learning.
We also work with educators to tailor performances to highlight curriculum themes or specific messages, ensuring a meaningful and memorable experience.
Example: Educational Magic – Learning Disguised as Fun
Our philosophy is simple: education should never feel like a chore. Just like hiding veggies in a tasty dish, we weave important lessons seamlessly into our performances. Book Week magic shows can touch on concepts such as:
- The joy of reading and storytelling
- The importance of healthy habits
- Good manners and social skills
These messages resonate with children while keeping them engaged, mesmerised, and laughing from start to finish.
